What Happened to New Jersey...

Things are always changing here in good ol' Jersey. As of lately... for the worse.  Over the past few years it has become increasingly tough to maintain a life in New Jersey. For those of you that think it's all Guidos and nightclubs on the beach, well.. that's one reason it's been getting tougher. It seems that businesses here and landlords alike are only interested in satisfying the needs of the summer crowd that plagues, yes...plagues, our lovely little oasis. Not only are there no places to live year round but the cost of staying here is ridiculous. It seems to me that landlords want a chunk of that New York money that is no longer enough to sustain a life in the big city and its surrounding areas. I have seen the rent go up in our area at least twice a year for the past few years and there is no knowing when it will stop. I am sick to my stomach with knowing that it is only a matter of time before we go broke and are flat on our asses and forced to va...

Back in the Outback...

So a couple of months ago I purchased yet another Subaru. I got myself my ultimate dad wagon. A 2001 Subaru Outback. It came with 205K on the miles, scratches…err.. scars along its sides from god knows what and some usual issues that you would expect from an old gal like this one. By the way, this is the first time that any of my cars was a female or any gender at all. They all have had their names that went along with them from Ol Blue to Equinso Ocha. Since this one is old, ugly form its scars and that annoying sea foam green that is starting to grow on me, this Outback has been dubbed Slug. Also due to the fact that she did not have a good pickup went we got it on the road.  I was very happy to be back in the driver seat of the most comfortable car I have ever driven. Once I was in the seat it was like I never left. Mind you, I got this car on the cheap so there were some issues, like I said earlier and that was to be expected. The engine had a slight bleed and a squeak ...

This is what we call the "Sticks"...

A few days ago I had the pleasure of venturing out Millstone, New Jersey. What a quaint, sticks-y like place. I was there to drop off a construction permit to their municipal complex. When I arrived ... i was shocked really, at the destination that I arrived at. The outside of the building needed a painting and some other work but when I arrived inside, that's where the shock took me. The inside of this municipal complex is best described as the basement of a church that would host meetings for the boy scouts. To the right side of the room was a party table opened up with a man behind it. There was a piano with a tarp over half of it. Behind the table with the gentlemen was a sad looking kitchenette that has definitely seen better days. Since I wasn't there for the coffee and pie I proceeded forward ans asked "Could you tell me where the construction office is?" The man laughed and said "Welcome to the construction office". I should have seen that one co...
