UPDATE: A professional is quite rare...

This note reflects a very recent happening a my job and is an update of my past post I am in sales and sell sms software to marketing agencies. As you all know, if you're in the United States anyways, our southern most region was just hit by the largest recorded hurricane in history. The support for our software is located in Florida. Phones were down which happens when a hurricane hits an area, phones and Internet are usually the second item to go after the power. Client from the Midwest calls in and is FURIOUS that he is unable to get through. Not only does he claim that it is unacceptable but after telling him that our support is in Florida and there was a major hurricane that happened just the day before, he goes ahead and say this. "I don't give a shit about a storm , I have a business to run and unlike you East Coast Bitches, I know how to run a business". I reply: "Sir, I understand that you are upset but power is still out at our support centre. Th

Review: the Repairman Jack Series

The affair began almost 12 years ago. Not the sort that you were thinkinhg... I had to write a paper for my creative writing course regarding a local...something or other, I cant really remember the reason. What i DO remember was the book i chose to write about... or the person who wrote the book. It was titled "Midnight Mass" written by New Jerseys own F. Paul Wilson. Local author writing a story about vampires taking over our local area and wreaking havoc and obliterating the remaining human race. PERFECT! I did not find out til later, just how local he was. Living on the other side of town that I grew up in. This book opened up my world that I was currently being introduced to. The science fiction world. Albeit he is not solely sci-fi but the elements are there. After reading Midnight Mass I was hooked. Wilson's writing, themes and style were too good to let go. So i moved on to his other novel, The Keep. In this novel I was introduced to Rasalom and Glaeken. Two

Where'd you get the name?

Naming your kid can be one of the most stressful time in a parent's life. You are giving another human a title that could make their life incredible or you can ruin simply by giving them a name. Name your kid Adolf and you'll see how quickly your cute kid is painted to be a racist psychopath. Parents give names for lots of different reasons. They give them because they sound good. Not a very wise thing to do. A lot of people carry a given name from another, more revered family member. That name in both my family as well as my wifes in Charles. Naming your kid in this sense is much more common and understood. Names have meaning as well. My name for instance is Christopher which means "bearer of Christ". I am not the religious sort but my name was originally slated to be Michael. That would not have been good considering the name you see connected with my first. My father was a huge Chicago Bulls fan. Then there are the people who name their kids after a fictional

When you become a father or even just a parent, your whole look on life changes. You begin seeing things for what they are. You understand why some people in your life act the way you do, usually because of the lack of sleep. Happy hour goes from a drink at the bar with your wife to bath time and story time before your able to even to sit down . My life was changed for the better about 8 months as I am writing this. My daughter was born. You probably guessed that was coming. She was born on November 1st, we named her Emilia and she is just wonderful. I've witnessed the war zone that is birth. Ive evaded enemy fire that is "shooting poopies" which the teddy bear across the room was  unable to avoid. Ive been in the torturers chair depriving me of sleep and demanding answers and actions to events i really did not understand. Being a parent is tough and me and my wife are still on the front line trying to figure out the best way to deal with the new commander that is al

A Professional is quite Rare these days.

I have been in the "Professional" work force for roughly 10 years now. I do not consider myself a millennial since I was raised MUCH differently than most of the hipsters that make up the millennial generation, so when older professionals treat me with an air of "annoyance", I get it. Starting in banking and eventually into Real Estate and now marketing, my professional demeanor has improved despite the constant interactions with older (and younger, damn hipsters) generations that are "annoyed" by people like me so their level of professionalism is non-existent whether due to lack of care or fear of a pitch. When I was a Realtor I thought everything was going to be great. I went in knowing that it was going to be competitive, but I had no idea that mothers, grandmothers and adults would treat me with the level of disrespect that I met in almost every sale, every inquiry, every consult. It is actually one of the main reasons I had to get out. Agent to a

Cloth Diapers- Saves a "Crap"-Load of Dough

Let me start this note by saying, Kids are no joke expensive. The formula, the toys, the clothes( these are actually surprisingly cheap), and the diapers all begin to add up as one helluva major monthly expense. Most of today's couples are forced to put their children in daycare or hire a nanny. Some are lucky enough to have family that can lend a hand when needed.  Me and my wife are not so lucky in that field. Not saying that we don't have family to help but everyone works and family is not always a choice when looking for help. Me and my wife have always said that she would stay at home with the baby so we don't have to worry about hiring out child care. This meant that only one of us, me, would be returning to work to support the household...wait let me re phrase that (sounds like i never had a job). My wife would be a stay at home parent to take care of our baby while i worked. With everything needed for a baby and only one salary coming in, things can and d

The Radio is a Broken Record

So here's the scenario. You're driving to work, it's your hour-long commute. You're listening to the radio and you think to yourself, didn't i just hear this song? So you change the station and there it is again. The same song from the last station and the one before that. The song is not that good but because the artist is known on social media as something we should all be following, you are forced to go through the realm of Radio Deja Vu. You now turn the radio off and are left to continue your drive in silence. This does not have to be so.  I myself have not listened to the radio in probably a couple of years now.  I was one of those people who would turn the radio off because i was tired of hearing the same three songs over and over. It's no wonder they are on the top of the charts, they're the only songs people hear. And they hear them three to five time a day. So to break up the monotony, I reintroduced myself to my ipod. Found some great stuff o

My wife has seen the "Light Side of the Force"

Star Wars has made millions upon millions since it first debut its first trilogy film back in the late 70`'s. It has fans across the planet and generations have been tuning in to  see the latest installment in the conflict between good and evil. The Jedi vs the Sith. The rebels vs the empire and its latest conflict, the resistance vs the first order. No matter where you first picked up interest or which film you fell in love with, there is an overwhelming love and interest in the Star Wars universe. Anyone who is of the Star Wars fandom scene has a story of a girl that when they brought up Star Wars, they replied with " Ugh! Is it that stupid space movie?" or "Star Wars is about a bunch of guys with laser swords..". It's happened to all who love the series. We as fans love to hear  our love of the series with loved ones, mostly our significant others. They however are not so keen. My wife for one was a very big non fan of the series. She always made a com

Hispanic Vegetarian

Some people might read the title to this and think...WHAT!! A Hispanic that doesn't eat meat!!!. Others may think it's no big deal. Another group will suggest that I am pushing my own agenda, which I am not. Becoming a Hispanic vegetarian has not been easy, especially since my Hispanic heritage is more so the Puerto Rican type. Meat is such a huge part of the culture and diet of Hispanics and Latinos all over the world. Although the change has not been easy, the choice was simple. I recently discovered my blood type, A positive. For those that do not know, an A positive blood type has a specific dietary need as do all blood types. Your blood is specific to your overall bodily system and how it functions. Mine in particular is a vegetarian based diet. A positive types were the original harvesters and thrived off of what could be harvested, not hunted. There are a few meats that are good for me such as mutton and lamb. Nowhere in my blood types requirement does it say that I s

Soul purpose of Lunch Break Notes

A lot of blogs revolve around a single topic of discussion or area of expertise. The purpose or reason for my blog is none other than its good for the soul. Recently i came across an article that suggested for a good balance of health and work, you should do something you enjoy for at least thirty minutes a day. It is said that it helps your work ethic. So I figured, i enjoy telling stories, talking about experiences or just bringing up a topic that could open up to some really great conversations and hence! We have a blog! This blog is a true passion project that enables me to get these wild thoughts out of my head and onto paper..er..screen. It is not meant to offend but open your mind to the conversation at hand no matter the opinion or point of view.  With that being said, I encourage anyone that wants to reveal their soul and put it out there for others to see, to write it down ad see what kind of crazy things you're keeping locked up inside. Why call it Lun
